Been caught stealin once when I was 7..

Today I totally busted Kevin in my kindy class for stealing! I was shocked actually. I came back from lunch and I noticed something missing from my desk area. I don't like to think that my kindie kids would take stuff but I knew it was there before lunch. So I questioned the kids and I told them I knew it had to be one of them because it was there before lunchtime. They all shook their heads and said,"It wasn't me!"
I told them all to open their bags. Kevin was sort of hanging over his so I couldn't really see inside. I took his backpack and opened it. Sure enough it was in there. I sent him to the office and told him I was very disappointed in him. He came back later and all of the kids told him he was a theif (in Korean but I understood). I am not sure how to deal with him now..act like it didn't happen? Bring it up and tell the class how wrong it is? I hope the school called his mom and told her what he did.

What a little fucker. I saw May giving him shit in the afternoon!
Yup. I'm very unimpressed with him. I'm glad to hear May gave him shit though.
I have a thief in my kindy class too. Anytime something's missing, it's in her backpack. It's so rare in the Korean culture...I never know what to do about it.
can you explain to him that if it happens again, that he will end up in the swamp under the New Jersey Turnpike?
Yeah, that might not do the trick with a five year old. Scares me though.
no..I did publically humiliate him today and I appointed someone in the class to be the police officer over lunch hour to make sure he didn't do anything wrong..he hated it I loved it! But the swamp sounds like a good idea ;)
Give the kid a break. How is he supposed to grow up to be a good thief, if everytime he nicks something everyone gets angry at him?
I say, the kid has a knack for nicking knick knacks, and that's no lie, paddy whack.
Encourage the boy. Who knows? Maybe in the years to come he might knock a bank over for you. Because, you were the teacher who cared.
You didn't mention what he stole... was it incredibly trvial?
