From my school's website

Picks I took from my school's website. I noticed there is A LOT of moi on there lately. Here are few of my kids and I.

Turns out the older gentlemen at the gym don't enjoy industrial metal pumping out of my headphones at the gym at 630am.

monotony

I'm seriously bored. I love my job and my friends but I think it's time for a change. I find myself thinking all the time about when I get to leave here. Korea has been great to me but July just can't come fast enough.

Thanks for all the love today

I received some beautiful gifts, lovely cards, and lots of love from friends and family. Thank you all. xoxox

I'm officially 32

Well this morning I woke up a year older. When I was in my 20's I never thought my life would be like this at 32. I can honestly say I am so glad it is. I am a little sad this morning to wake up and find out that Heath Ledger was found dead while I was sleeping. He was so awesome..

My 32nd Birthday Party

Last night I had a great time out with my friends. We started the evening off at On The Border (a new Mexican restaurant in Sinchon). The margaritas were delicious as was the guacamole! Thanks Max for telling them it was my birthday punk! At least EVERYONE had to wear the sombreros haha! Then we moved on to Club OI in Hongdae. I am surprised this place wasn't packed as it is one of the coolest little spots I've been in Hongdae in a long time. The final peeps standing made our way to Itaewon to see Teddy and that's where the evening got a little messy. Thanks to everyone for such a great birthday party I love you all xoxo

Party Time

So today is my birthday party. I don't usually dig the whole birthday thing but I'm really looking forward to this one. A friend told me I should look at this birthday as a celebration of making it this far. They were right. I've accomplished so much awesomeness in my life and I'm sure I'll continue to do so. So for that, I'm thankful for the year that has just passed and the one that is ahead of me.

I also just have to say that if you have yet to see the film JUNO do it.

Bitch or not a bitch? that is the question I'm asking

I just had an interesting chat with a fellow employee (who clearly does not feel this way about me as he brought me a birthday cake today) and he and I were discussing how others may view my personality. Bitch is a word I have heard used in regards to me many times before and that was the word that was brought up. Yet, as I do not take offense to the term I do question those who may use it and aim it in my direction. I am a very independent person, and have been all my life. Sure I have insecurities like everyone else on the planet, but at the same time I don't play nice to everyone just because I want or need for them to like me. Instead, I choose to surround myself with those I feel are interesting, intellectual, worldly, and unique. That does not mean I won't be pleasant with you if we happen to cross paths in the hallway, but if you aren't someone I find interesting, chances are I'm not going to want to have anything to do with you on a personal level. So, does that make me a bitch? I don't think so.

I am also a very confident person when it comes to my work. I am highly skilled and I have a lot of experience in my field. I don't need to rely on others for assistance and I'm creative and can come up with ideas on my own. Because I am sure of my abilities and my work does that make me a bitch? I don't think so. I don't flaunt it and keep to myself and do my job.

Of course there are things that I am not good at and I will be the first to admit them. However, there aren't very many things I'm not strong at doing. I can't spell though (although I'm getting better - but I do admit I can't and I think that's okay). Any other mis-understood women out there? It tends to mostly be women that feel this way about me, I have wonderful relationships with the men in my life.

IT'S FREEEEEEEZING IN SEOUL!! I have no idea how I'm going to be able to get used to Canadian winters again.

Sunday, January 13, 2008

I had a wonderful weekend! Hope you all did too. Next weekend is my big 32nd b-day bash. Man I'm getting old haha! Not sure where yet but it will be dins and drinks in Hongdae (Joel I hope you remember you agreed to venture to Hongdae next Saturday night!)

I also just watched Stardust. Has anyone else watched this film? I'm IN LOVE with this movie. If you are a fan of The Princess Bride this may be a film you'd really enjoy.

Now it's off to bed for me because I'm back at the 530am gym routine in the morning. Oh I'm forever the masochist :)

Bjork in Seoul!

I seriously need to start paying attention to the posters around me. I'm glad I was listening last night when I found out (probably the last person to find out!) that Bjork is coming here on the 16th of February. There better be tickets left or I'm gonna freak out!

I love Joel.

A movie review

It's been a while since I've posted any reviews about films I've seen. December was a month for major movie watching so here are a few for you.

1. American Gangster- 4 1/2 stars outta 5. It was an excellent film with great acting by the entire cast. I won't spoil the plot in case you have yet to see it but you really should if you haven't.

2. I am Legend - this film gets ZERO stars from me. Think of every zombie movie you've seen and throw in the plague and Wil Smith. A serious waste of time.

3. The Brave One - 3 1/2 stars outta 5. A good performance by Jodie Foster as a radio broadcaster on a mission to avenge the death of her doctor boyfriend. She becomes a vigilante on a mission. It's good and has a pretty good ending. Worth watching I'd say.

4. The Kingdom - 4 stars outta 5. Usually movies that have America vs Muslims makes me angry but this film was well done and had a good plot. Chris Cooper and Jamie Foxx are great. Go see it.

that's it for now because if you knew how many films I've actually seen in the last month you'd realize I have too much time on my hands :)

203 more sleeps..

Boogie

On New Year's Day we dragged our tired and slightly hung over butts out for dinner with Raegs. Afterwards we went over to Roger's place. I've always wanted to go over and see his lizard, Boogie. I love reptiles, snakes and lizards and anything cold blooded. Needless to say, Boogie and I bonded :)

I'm sick.

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

My company is gone and I'm back to work. I hate when holidays come to an end. I wish I could just have someone deposit money in my bank account regularly so I wouldn't have to work and could just travel and relax for the rest of my life...

New Years Eve 2007/2008

Me and my girls went to Fame Festival at Millennium Hall here in Seoul. The legendary Carl Cox was on the decks and it was hot! Great way to spend my last NYE in Korea. With music I love and people I adore.

Happy New Year

For most of my friends and family back home it is a few hours shy of the New Year, but it has been 2008 in Seoul for the last 12 hours. I had a wonderful time at Fame Festival with my friends last night and danced to Carl Cox's house beats all night. Now I am awake (earlier than I should be and may have to go back to sleep) and ready to take on my 3 resolutions for the year. I think I've finally come to a place where they will be easy to maintain. Since it is 2008, I'm a few weeks away from my 32nd birthday, and a little over 6 months away from leaving Korea. I'm also waiting patiently to hear back from the Universities I applied to and hope that I beat out the other 6 thousand people or so and get one of the coveted 300 or so spots in the program. Then my life plan (for the next year or so) can officially begin. I hope everyone out there has/had a wonderful New Year's Eve and a smashing 2008!
